What is Town Centre First?
Town Centre First is a community-led plan to make Castlerea town centre an even better place to live, work and visit. It looks at the heart of the town, how it looks and feels, how people move around, the mix of uses and activities, and how we can support local business and community life.
Project overview
Roscommon County Council and the Castlerea Town Team are developing a Town Centre First Plan for Castlerea. Over recent months we’ve engaged widely—on-street and online with residents, businesses, groups and organisations to learn what people value today and what they want to see in the future.
Using those insights, the project team has prepared a draft Town Centre First Plan (vision, themes and potential projects). This is not final – it’s a working draft to spark discussion and gather more feedback.
