Castlerea based Harmac Medical is set to extend its facility by 18,000 sq. feet. The company which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in Castlerea next April has grown over the years.
It is understood that work will commence shortly on the extension on lands recently zoned for industrial purpose by Roscommon County Council.
This week Fianna Fail’s Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice said that the zoning of land at the rear of the complex was instrumental in securing this expansion in Castlerea. “Work will commence shortly on this and we hope to also start work soon on a new playground and carpark for the swimming pool across the road from Harmac” said Cllr Fitzmaurice.
“I want to pay tribute to Mick McEnroe and to John Somers (the owner of Harmac) for all the belief he and his late father, Lou, have had in our town over the past 20 years. This belief has given employment to 300 people in the surrounding area. John was in Castlerea last week and heard the plans we have for the general area. All this development and the works being carried out at the An Chistin Food Hub by Roscommon County Council and Enterprise Castlerea will see a massive investment in our town. It is hoped we can hall all three projects completed by April, making this part of the Demesne a huge hub for employment and amenities.”
