Women from across County Roscommon are invited to attend a free information event in Castlerea aimed at encouraging greater participation in local decision-making and public life.
Supporting Active Citizenship in Roscommon is being delivered by Roscommon County Council in partnership with See Her Elected (SHE) and the Roscommon Women’s Network. The event will take place in Trinity Arts Centre, Castlerea, on Wednesday 3rd June at 7pm, with tea, coffee and light refreshments served from 6.30pm.
The session is designed to provide a practical and welcoming introduction to how local government works and the many ways people can become involved in shaping their communities.
Participants will:
- Gain a clear and easy-to-understand overview of how Roscommon County Council operates
- Learn about the role of local councillors and how people become elected representatives
- Hear from local women who are already involved in decision-making and community leadership
- Discover practical ways to get involved in local government and community development at their own pace
No previous experience is required, just an interest in your community and a willingness to learn more about how local decisions are made.
This is the second of two seminars being held as part of a wider campaign to increase diversity and encourage more women to participate in local government and public decision-making.
Whether you are already active in your community, involved in a local organisation, or simply curious about how local government works, this event offers a valuable opportunity to learn more and have your voice heard.
