Ballintubber native Cllr. Michael Holland was co-opted onto Roscommon County Council in May 2025 to fill the vacancy left by the late Cllr. Anthony Waldron. In his maiden speech, Cllr. Holland expressed deep gratitude to council colleagues, his family, and the Waldron family for their support. Taking the role seriously, he pledged to continue his lifelong friend Anthony Waldron’s work — including plans to honour Cllr. Waldron’s memory through community landmarks such as a jetty and park.

As a representative for the Roscommon Municipal District, Cllr. Holland brings a sense of continuity, respect for legacy, and dedication to local community projects. His appointment reinforces commitment to responsible, locally-focused governance.
