Cllr. Nigel Dineen serves on Roscommon County Council, representing the Roscommon Municipal District. He was first elected in 2014, re-elected in 2019, and most recently in 2024—highlighting his continued commitment to local representation. In 2024, he joined the Independent Ireland party.

Nigel has held several key positions, including Cathaoirleach of the Roscommon Municipal District and Vice-Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council. He also chairs the Roads, Transportation & Emergency Services SPC, and serves on the Joint Policing Committee, contributing to policy development and local governance.

A proud native of Castlerea, Nigel brings a rich sporting history—having played Gaelic football for Castlerea St Kevin’s and the Roscommon county team. He later managed the under-21 team, leading them to provincial and All-Ireland finals.

An established auctioneer serving Roscommon and Mayo since 2007, Nigel understands the challenges and needs of rural businesses. He is also deeply rooted in community life as a family man and local broadcaster, contributing regularly to regional sports analysis.
