Cllr. Ruth Connolly-Conboy was co-opted onto Roscommon County Council in April 2025, stepping into the seat left vacant by Senator Gareth Scahill. Originally from Castleplunkett and now living in Ballintubber she brings with her a fresh energy and strong ties to our community.

A graduate of DCU with a degree in International Relations, Law, and Government, Ruth has also served as Chief Strategy Officer at Real Nation, a behavioural change agency.  Her professional background equips her with a strategic outlook and a focus on outcomes, qualities that benefit her role as a councillor.

On assuming her position, Cllr. Connolly-Conboy pledged to build strong relationships with all representatives and to ensure that the voices of the Roscommon Municipal District are heard. Since then, she has actively engaged with local constituents, working to increase community input and improve accountability.

Whether addressing local issues or supporting community initiatives, Ruth Connolly-Conboy continues to make a meaningful impact as a dedicated and approachable public representative for Castlerea and surrounding areas.
