Huge congratulations to the Castlerea Community School Transition Year Students 2015/2016 who received a Special Achievement Award at the Roscommon Volunteer Award Ceremony which was held in Áras an Chontae last night. Well done to you all, you should be very proud.

The group were nominated by Project Match, Roscommon Women’s Network and the Castlerea Town Team for their needs analysis on young people in Castlerea,  a social inclusion morning ‘Celebrating the Ages’ and finally for organising and running the first ever Castlerea ‘Darkness Into Light’ which helped raised over €13000 for Pieta House.

These young people are an absolute credit to themselves, their parents, school and a huge benefit to their community.

A special mention also has to be given to Castlerea Community Arts Group who were also a finalist on the night and to Tommy Gaynor, Marion Coughlan & Yvonne Hansbury who were all nominated for the awards but unfortunately didn’t make the final shortlist.

We are very lucky to have such great volunteers in our locality. Thank you for all the hard work you do each and every day to make Castlerea & it’s community a better place to live.
